Introduction


Greetings weavers of the ethereal cosmos!
We meet again for another wave of adventure as we put to use what we have unravelled about our current Unit, “Unraveling the Greek and Roman Supremacies specifically the Greek and Roman mythologies. At this point, you are one step closer to being full-pledged scavengers of their supreme culture, traditions, beliefs and practices; most of all their humanity.

What are the concrete learnings you have acquired in this Unit?
How will you sum up the knowledge you have garnered in this Unit?
What concrete societal problem can you derive from this Unit?
How will you address such a societal problem?

In this activity, you will be compiling all your in-class outputs (meaning the ones we accomplished in class) with the additional requirements needed (as stated in the task pane) by using your best friends – the INTERNET and TECHNOLOGY!

Task

As part of this unit’s campaign to bring back in you the essence of reading and appreciating literature, you will be tasked for a duration of SIX WEEKS to create a website applying your knowledge about the mythology of Rome and Greece which you learned all through-out our sessions. The output will be made available for viewing and evaluating all over the world, most specifically our institution, our community and your families.

The website will contain these important elements:


1.      ILLUSTRATIONS of the MAJOR and FAMOUS GREEK and ROMAN counterpart DIETIES
2.     3 GREEK WRITTEN POEMS MADE INTO AUDIOS
3.     3 ROMAN WRITTEN POEMS MADE INTO AUDIOS
4.     RETRIEVE THE SECPTER! ONLINE TREASURE HUNT videos (which was already made through your OTH Activity in the previous sessions)
5.     LIST OF 15 GREEK and ROMAN MYTHOLOGY STORIES
6.     4 GREEK or ROMAN MYTHOLOGY STORY SUMMARIES
7.     LIST OF 5 ROMAN INFLUENTIAL FIGURES (WITH BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS)
8.     LIST OF 5 GREEK INFLUENTIAL FIGURES (WITH BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS)
9.     SHORT LETTER OF APPEAL to the United Nations about the effects of war as inferred in the relationship of Ancient Greece and Rome

1.  Create summaries of mythologies 4 items only. Descriptions of the 10
     influential figures.
     Create the introduction and conlusion and the content of each page 
     except for the Influential Figures.
     Put together the letter of appeal convened by the class.
     Check the grammar and structure of the content.

2. Research more of the history of Greeks and Romans.
    Research list of mythologies – relay to the Linguists for summarizing.
    Research influential figures and their descriptions – relay to the  
    Linguists and Artists.
    Research information about the Greek and Roman war (statistics and
    effects).

3. Collect illustrations of the deities done by the class and pick the best 
    12 major deities.
    Collect 8 images for the famous deities online.
    Collect images for website per tab content.
    Conceptualize the design (color, font, style )and the layout of the
    Website with the Web-developers.

4. Search for the background music of the website.
    Upload letter of appeal to the UN, summaries, audio poems,
    drawings, content of each page and OTH video.

5. In charge of the domain that will be developed for the creation of the 
    class website.
    In charge of the final layout of the website.
    In charge of the aesthetic and technical elements of the website.
    In charge of the  links and arranging of all that the Linguists,
    Researchers, Artists and Media-men have gathered.





Process

(WEEK 1)
STEP 1: FORMING THE ALLIANCE
You will work in groups of five according to your specialty. Each group has a specific role or function (as stated in the TASK pane):

Group 1: Linguists
Group 2: Researchers
Group 3: Artists
Group 4: Media-men
Group 5: Web-developers

STEP 2: DISCUSSING ROLES
As soon as you know who your group mates are, get together and discuss among yourselves your roles, objectives and target outputs.

STEP 3: TOTING THE RESOURCES
You must look into the resources (found at the RESOURCES pane) as each group has different tasks and each task has different resources.

For the compilation task – you will gather the outputs you have done in class (in-class outputs).
For the creative-product task – you will create your outputs which will be supported by the websites stated at the RESOURCES section of this WEBQUEST Activity.

(WEEK 2)
STEP 1: COMPILING
By the end of the week, as a group, you must work on your compilation tasks.
Linguists
Compile the summaries made by each student of the class about Troy.
Pick 1 best summary of the bunch to be placed in the website.
Researchers
Compile the list of influential figures (5 Romans, 5 Greeks) and the list of Roman/Greek mythology stories.
Research more about the history of the Greeks and Romans.
Artists
Compile the illustrations made by each student in the class.
Pick the best 12 illustrations of each major deity.
Media-men
Compile the Online Treasure Hunt Videos done by the groups in class. Research background music for the website.
Web-developers
Search and decide upon an available Search Engine for the class to use.


STEP 2: GROUP MEETING

Linguists
Relay the best Troy summary to the Media-men for encoding and uploading.
Researchers
Relay the list of mythology stories to the Linguists for them to begin their summaries.
Artists
Conceptualize the layout of the website with the Web-developers. Discuss style, color, header, footer, major pages and subpages.
Media-men
Encode/Upload the summary of Troy done by the Linguists.
Web-developers
Present the search engine to the other groups.
Conceptualize layout of the website with the Artists. Discuss style, color,
header, footer, major pages and subpages.

STEP 3: FIRST CONSULTATION
The groups must meet with the teacher at the end of the week to check for clarity, concerns and progress.

(WEEK 3)
STEP 1: CREATING/ENCODING/UPLOADING CONTENT

Linguists
Since you already have a summary of Troy, you only need 4 more mythology stories to summarize. Take note that it must be found in the list that the Researchers gave you.
Researchers
Create the brief descriptions of the Influential Figures.
Write a brief description of the history and nature of the Greeks and the Romans.
Artists
Search for images of famous deities and influential figures.
Search for images for the website’s pages and subpages.
Media-men
Compile the class Audio Poems.
Upload the Audio Poems.
Upload the Linguists’ summaries.
Upload the Researchers’ influential figures and history.
Upload the Artists’ images for the website’s pages and subpages.
Web-developers
Accomplish the 1st Draft of the website.

STEP 2: SECOND CONSULTATION
The groups must meet with the teacher at the end of the week to check for clarity, concerns and progress.


(WEEK 4)
STEP 1: CREATING/ENCODING/UPLOADING CONTENT
Linguists
Introduction and other texts of the website for each page and subpage.
Put together the Letter of Appeal to the UN about the ill effects of war in the world as researched by the Researchers and as agreed upon by the class.
Researchers
Research ill effects of war in the world and make a connection of it to the knowledge about the relationship of the Ancient Greeks and Romans as learned in the sessions.
Present to the class and facilitate the brainstorming/creating of the Letter of Appeal to the UN about the ill effects of war in the world.
Relay the final plan to the Linguists for them to put it together.
Artists
Help the Web-developers for the layout and aesthetic feel of the website.
Refine/Research more images for the pages and subpages of the website.
Media-men
Upload Linguists’ Introduction and other texts of the website for each page and subpage.
Upload Audio Poems and Background music of the website.
Upload refined/more researched images for the pages and subpages of the website passed by the Artists.
Web-developers
Accomplish the 2nd Draft of the website

STEP 2:  THIRD CONSULTATION
The groups must meet with the teacher at the end of the week to check for clarity, concerns and progress.

(WEEK 5)
STEP 1: FINAL REVISING/UPLOADING CONTENT AND POLISHING OF WEBSITE
Linguists
Finalization of Letter of Appeal to the UN about the ill effects of war in the world.
Researchers
Finalization of Letter of Appeal to the UN about the ill effects of war in the world.
Artists
Final polishing of the Website with the Web-developers.
Media-men
Uploading of the Letter of Appeal to the UN about the ill effects of war in the world.
Web-developers
Final polishing of the Website with the Artists.
Accomplish the 3rd Draft of the website

STEP 2:  FOURTH CONSULTATION
The groups must meet with the teacher at the end of the week to check for clarity, concerns and progress.

STEP 3:  PASSING OF GROUP CHECKLISTS
Each group must pass their group checklists to the teacher.

(WEEK 6)
STEP 1: FINAL CONSULTATION
The groups will have their last consultation for their big project. Final questions, comments and suggestions will be given.

STEP 2: LAST MINUTE REVISIONS
The groups must check the website to see if there are still things that need to be revised or polished according to the teacher’s final questions, comments and suggestions.

STEP 3: SUBMISSION
The class must submit the URL of their accomplished task to the teacher which is the website.

STEP 2: EVALUATION
Every group member must take the self-assessment and peer-feedback evaluation forms (found at the EVALUATION pane) to complete the Unit project. The assessment tools will be filled-up in class. Self-assessment will help you evaluate your performance as an individual in your group while the peer-feedback evaluation will help you evaluate your group members’ contributions and performance as well.

STEP 3: SHOWCASING
As a class, you will showcase your website explaining these three things:
1. Your roles
2. The process you followed to accomplish the big project
3.  The content of your website.

There will be three evaluators who will judge your final output for this Third Grading Period.
They will use the WebQuest Website Rating Scale (found at the EVALUATION pane) to evaluate your website, so make certain you have everything in tact!
